THE EVENT

The Green Globe Festival is to be hosted by Erica Viking of 94 Rock, at Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Park on Saturday, August 16, 2008, from 9am to 10pm. Joining her throughout the day will be Dusty the Roadrunner, our state’s mascot. Gates are to open at 9am with speaker presentations beginning at 10am. Musical performances will begin at 12pm with speakers featured between select performance sets throughout the afternoon.

Consisting of professionals and educators from across the community, our featured speakers include Alfonz Viszolay of VM Technology, Del Jimenez of New Mexico State University, Dr. James Biggs of the Conservation Partnership, Terry McMains, the Director at Large of the American Rain Catchment Systems Association, Dan Duffield of Direct Power and Water, Katherine Yuhas, the Water Conservation Officer of the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority and Water Utility Authority board member City Councilman Michael Cadigan.

Starting at noon, our musical guests include Hawaiian Pride (Hula Troop), Nosotros (Latin), Jeff Scroggins and Fresh Horses (Bluegrass), Civitas (Misc.), Jenn Grinels (Singer/Songwriter), Felonious Groove Foundation (Funk), Rebilt (Punk), The Big Spank (Misc.), Aranda (Rock) and Ryan McGarvey (Blues/Rock Guitar Maniac). In order to insure everyone stays nourished we have a number of vendors that will be standing by to help fill those needs. Annapurna’s World Vegetarian Café will provide delicious vegetarian cuisine, Curbside Café will tantalize with their fresh organics, Hawaiian Pride will be throwing down Island Style and…will be ready to tend to those of you that just can’t live without that sweet, sweet taste of fine smoked meat.

All in all a day full of education and fun. And no matter your taste in food or music we’ve got something that will leave you wanting more.
